DECEMBER ULSTER TATLER

MY TOP TIPS TO STOP YOU JIGGLING…SORRY I MEAN JINGLING ALL THE WAY INTO THE NEW YEAR OVER THE FESTIVE PERIOD…WHILST STILL ENJOYING YOURSELVES A LITTLE KIDS!

Ok it’s here again CHRISTMAS, that time of year that for some reason we all think we have to consume 3X the usual amount of food & alcohol…wow it is inevitable though right, with friends/parties/work do’s/family get togethers all being shoved in our faces. We find ourselves just giving in to the fact that we’re going to put on some extra lbs…but I say let’s try kick that peer pressure in the face, and show everyone that we ain’t gonna conform to the norm. We are gonna stay at least half HEALTHY THIS CHRISTMAS!

Rules of stay fit over Christmas club:

No1. Try to keep your fingers from dipping into every little selection box you see, cause they are everywhere (before you know it you’ve amassed 1000 extra calories in a day, it’s easy done right). Also make smarter meal choices when out. It’s simple, dinner stick to your meat & veg, skip dessert, drink water instead of fizzy drinks.

No2. Keep alcohol choice on point. Gin is the best option (Jawbox Gin i usually opt for), with a light mixer. Also try eat a good meal before drinking, one containing carbohydrates, and drink plenty of water before and after each drink. This way your hangover won’t be nearly as bad, and that’s when the temptations are harder to say no too, with energy levels dropping, meaning that we are far more likely to skip them very important gym sessions.

No3. If you know you are going out that night for a staff do, or some such event then save up the majority of your calories that day. Say for instance you know you’ve a set course meal that night, then just snack throughout the day, thus keeping your calories lower, then if you enjoy your dinner & dessert it’s not nearly as bad as if you’ve ate bad all day right.

No4. Make sure to keep at that exercise. The mindset of people usually is that if I’m being bad over Christmas I may as well go all out lazy/crazy…um no, if you train and maintain, that’s a lot better than all that gain (and by that I mean body fat gain). Try to exercise the days you know you’re going out to eat, drink and be MERRY with friends. This way all the bad stuff hasn’t nearly as detrimental affect on your body. How the human body responds to extra calories/alcohol is no where near as bad when we keep moving.

Trust me follow these rules you’ll thank yourself, and come the whole 2020 NEW YEARS RESOLUTION thing, you’ll find sticking to it a lot easier, and a lot less daunting with only half the damage done to your body!
